Paul J. Schiller Fund

The Paul J. Schiller Fund was established in 2001 by the board of the Greater Oxford Community Foundation to honor active community volunteer Paul J. Schiller. The fund's purpose is to encourage and facilitate volunteerism in the Oxford area by supporting the following and other volunteer activities and items: 1. Programs and projects of volunteer youth groups with community service as their mission. 2. Workshops that educate non-profit staff and volunteers. 3. Initiatives by non-profit organizations to attract volunteers, including but not limited to display cases, advertising, and events. 4. Paraphernalia such as name badges, sashes, etc. to identify volunteer. 5. Background checks. 6. Training materials. 7. Equipment and office supplies. 8. Books and other media that encourage volunteerism. 9. Scholarships for people in financial need who are accepted to participate in LOXA (Leadership Oxford Academy), or similar initiatives. 10. Books for service learning resource center at Miami University. 11. Supplies for teachers wanting to expand service learning to the Talawanda Middle and Elementary Schools. It is not the intent of the Schiller Fund to support volunteer recognition programs, whether in the form of pins, trophies, luncheons, or other acknowledgements that might be construed as payment for volunteerism.
